Hello English (2019-20) -Two day workshop for familiarizing the teachers the use of English Story Cards in Elementary Classrooms

                   Vennikulam BRC has conducted two day workshop for 'Familiarizing English story cards' at GLPS Thelliyoor from 28th October to 29th.56 teachers participated in the training .At the Plenary session BPO Praksh Sir mentioned the aims of the training and delivered inaugural speech. In his keynote,Vennikulam AEO,Ajayakumar Sir explained the importance of creating an English atmosphere in English classrooms.His words brought a positive energy and confidence to all the participants.

                                     

           After the inaugural session participants found their pair based on the given instructions.They selected one reading card from the center.One of the persons in the pair read the story and the other member and made a visual art presentation of the story.

                           

Then they selected another reading card from the full set of reading cards of the class 1 to 7  according to the groups presented their selected story through various strategies,like drama, TPR, mono act etc.

                After the lunch break,RPs showed videos of processing reading cards(std 1-7)in the classroom.The participants discussed and found out some strategies in the pre-while-post reading stages and presented it using graphic organizers.In the play time , participants played a game 'True or false Wall'.They read the story 'Siamese cats'within one minute and moved to the 'true or false walls'according to the statements from the story read by the RP. Then they watched another classroom try-out video and discussed the effectiveness of the teacher talk.

                                           

On the second day all the 7 groups try-out the classes. They document the classes and wrote teacher talks.All the groups shared their expediences of the try-out classes.All the 54 participants wrote teaching manuals of the reading cards. RPs binded it and AEO published that teaching manual magazines in the closing section. They have done activities such as running 'dictation' , Word Wall ,'Voice Over',etc. The participants read aloud the reading cards with proper voice modulations ,tore and pitch.

                                                               

                                 RPs remained  the participants , the Technics of hello English , teaching manual , when ,where and how to use reading cards.The training was success the participants requested that they need an English gathering ones in a month to share the experiences.They are happy to say that their confidence level increased a lot. The BRC members and RPs and AEO are the backbone of this training.We wish that in the coming days teachers using reading cards more effectively in the class rooms
